The Business

Strata Products (“Strata”) manufactures a range innovative, fully-recyclable home, office and garden products, under a variety of brands including Ward, Sankey, Heavy Duty Storage and Smart Storemaster Boxes. Strata offers a full-suite of plastic manufacturing capabilities, including injection, rotational and blow moulding, enabling it to deliver continuous development and improvement across its product portfolio, in order to best serve its global customer base.

The Deal

Chiltern has supported a management buyout led by CEO, Jay Ilsen, and as part of the transaction experienced PE CFO, Ian Hendrie, will join the Board. Management will be supported by the introduction of experienced PE and plastics manufacturing expert, Glen Sabin, as Non-Executive Chair.

Strata was previously a subsidiary of Berry Global Group, Inc. (“Berry Global”), a Fortune 500 developer, manufacturer and distributor of plastic products.

The Plan

Strata has a proven history of manufacturing high-quality, innovative plastic products and will look to continue working closely with its trusted customer and supplier base to capitalise on its strong market position. Strata will drive growth in the UK through new product development, as well as continuing its expansion in Europe and North America.

Michael Coupland

Mike is focussed on supporting management teams deliver their ambitions for growth and brings a wealth of portfolio experience. He serves directly on the board of several of investee companies.

Formerly Mike worked as an Investment Director concentrating on lower-mid market investing. He has a range of sector experience but has spent most of his time working with B2B industrial, manufacturing and distribution businesses. Mike qualified as a Chartered Accountant at KPMG where he worked in Corporate Finance and Tax.

Outside of work, Mike enjoys cooking and playing golf when he isn’t busy looking after his young family.

Andrew Reid

Andrew focuses on new investments, primarily in the Industrials and Business Services sectors, as well as supporting a number of our portfolio companies with value creation, M&A, and refinancings.

Previously he was a Senior Manager at HMT in the Transaction Services team, where he managed financial due diligence assignments for private equity firms in the lower mid-market. Andrew started his career at EY, where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant.

Away from the office, Andrew enjoys all things sporting and is a keen golfer and long-suffering Scottish rugby fan. Outside of sport, Andrew likes getting out into countryside.
