The Business

SiXworks is a rapidly growing, designer and implementor of specialist and complex IT solutions for highly secure critical risk environments within the public sector. It specialises in secure-by-design cloud computing, advanced network and infrastructure design, rapid application development, cross-security domain systems, multi-source data platforms, cyber vulnerability mitigation and intelligence systems.

The Deal

As part of the transaction, Chiltern has invested in SiXworks and will actively support the highly experienced management team led by Steve Rawsthorn (CEO), John Eriksen (Chief Security Officer) and Andy Hodgkinson (Chief Solutions Architect) in delivering their growth plan. As part of the transaction, Chiltern has strengthened the management team with the introduction of experienced sector and private equity chair, Alan Gaby, and Richard Goldsmith as CFO.

The Plan

SiXworks operates in a market with strong market tailwinds driven by the continued shift towards digitialisaiton across the UK public sector and has high barriers to entry. It has a firmly established reputation for deep technical excellence and delivery and is well-placed to continue its rapid revenue and profitability growth through ongoing investment in business development, best-in-class technical resource and the continued transition from associate to employed consultants.

Tom Phipps

Tom co-founded Chiltern Capital with Alex Sheffield and is a member of the Investment Committee. He focuses much of his time on developing the firm’s origination activities and completing new investments in the business services and technology sectors. Recent investments include VIMA and SiXworks.

Prior to Chiltern Capital, Tom was a director at Livingstone Partners.

Tom is an avid follower of Gloucester Rugby Club.

Ben Robinson

Ben leads new investments as well as playing an active role in supporting portfolio companies with a particular focus on technology and automotive services. Ben has worked closely with a number of our successful investee companies including SiXworks, Steer Automotive, VIMA and Cybit.

Prior to joining Chiltern, Ben worked in Transaction Services at PwC, focusing on mid-market deals, having previously qualified as a Chartered Accountant within PwC’s Assurance practice.

Away from the office, Ben enjoys all things active including running, cycling and golf. Having hung up his rugby boots he remains a keen fan of the Exeter Chiefs.
